OLIS is an online legal information system. It contains legal information required in Court proceedings and legal research. .
It contains case laws, parliament debates, acts, speeches, research articles, legal
news, notification, evidence, legal form, Parliamentary bills, treaties, trade
notices, press release, ordinance, book reviews, circulars.
Please select all databases in basic search and type in search terms. Thereupon, click the search button.

Judicial database covers case law, citations, evidence, articles, forms, speech, Audio/video contents, commentaries and websites.
Legislative search covers acts, parliamentary bill, Lok Sabha debates, Rajya Sabha debates, circulars, treaties, trade notices, press release, notifications, rules- regulations and websites:
User can submit the contents in OLIS by click on the button contribute. However, users have to login in OLIS prior to initiate the submission.
Users can submit five types of contents in OLIS. These are: (i) article (ii) form iii) speech (iv) video/audio/ (v) websites. However, user has to login to OLIS prior to begin the submission process.
In OLIS each database has different sorting parameters. However, in general sorting can performed in alphabetical order i.e. A to Z or Z to A. In addition, latest to oldest or oldest to latest can also be opted for sorting of search results prior to start search.
Journal title, volume, issue no and page number. In addition, user has to select the court.
First choose the case law database, thereupon select addition search. You will see history of case search box. Here, please enter the case number to know the history of case number.

Five type of bench strength are given such as: (i) single bench (ii) double bench (iii) full bench (iv) constitutional bench and (v) bench with chief justice
In order to search amendments first select the acts database. Thereafter, enter the search terms in amendments under the act.
The acts and rules referred in case law are hyperlinked with metadata. In case these are not hyperlinked then act, rules database may be explored.
Advance search empowers user to use Boolean operators so that combination of two terms can be used for retrieval of contents.
Additional search is added keeping in mind the parameters which are rarely used for searching the database e.g. state of petitioner, history of case number is rarely used to identify the appropriate case by users. Besides this, keeping in mind the future requirement it facilitate to add other of search fields.
Circulars can be search with Keyword, circulars no, file no, date, subject, sub-subject, statute, ministry, department, state and description.
Articles database can be searched with article title, author, subject, journal, volume, year and page.
In order to search Lok Sabha debates first choose the Lok Sabha debates database. Thereupon, select the field which you want to search and enter the search term
Case law database search results can be filtered by the following: (i) judge name (ii) subject (iii) bench strength (iv) court type (v) case type (vi) statute and advocate. Besides this, year can also be used to refine the search results.
Acts can be filtered by state, subject, law and year.
Firstly, user has to login with account. Now searches can be performed and after selecting the appropriate records these can be saved.
This database can be explored using following fields: keywords, title of video/audio, speaker, event, date, subject, sub-subject, publisher, sponsor, statute, section and note.

The fields to search are: Title, bill introduced in house, bill type, bill status, introduced by member, ministry in charge of bill, bill category, and object and reason.
The commentaries can be searched with title, author, date, publisher, subject, sub-subject and contents.
The search results in case law database will show the equivalent citations of case so that decision can be taken from law reports.
