SHRI RAMA SHANKER KAUSHIK: Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that Government have not applied for the  extradition of the Chairman of the company responsible for the Bhopal Gas Tragedy even after the lapse of 10 years; and (b) if so, the reasons therefor? THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS (SHRI CHHATTRA PAL SINGH): (a) The Government of India has forwarded the Extradition request in respect of Warren Anderson, the then Chairman of Union Carbide Corporation, (UCC) USA in May 2003 to the Embassy of India, Washington which has since been forwarded by Embassy of India, Washington to the US Department of State and US Department of Justice. (b) Does not arise.
